We are in our 38th year of operation, making us America's oldest continuously operating community recycling center.
The non-profit Arcata Community Recycling Center was started shortly after Earth Day 1970 by a group of Vista volunteers and conscientious objectors to the Vietnam war. In 2002, ACRC began operation of the Eureka Community Recycling Center at the HWMA Transfer Station, and in 2007 opened a new 35,800 sq. ft. dual-stream processing facility in Samoa.
Our combined facilities process over 10,000 tons of materials per year and are rapidly growing! The Arcata and Eureka collection centers provide recycling collection of various materials to residents of Humboldt County as well as business and commercial customers.
